You have all been working diligently on your novel study assignments. All of the novels show the trials and tribulations of a character and how he/she was treated unfairly. Now that you have a better idea of what persecution is, I would like you to write about the type of persecution that occurred in your novel. In your paragraph, make sure you explain the following:
1.) What type of persecution occurred?
2.) Who was affected and how was this person affected?
3.) Who persecuted this person and why?
4.) Why do you think this type of persecution was allowed to happen?
5.) If you could change what happened, what would you change and why?
6.) How did it make you feel? Explain in detail.

I think the form of persecution is slavery because the soldiers forced Shmuel to polish the dishes and the bad thing was was that he didn't have a choice. lieutenant Kotler persecuted Shmuel i think this because lieutenant Kotler thought he had the bigger and stronger army which they do so he told Shmuel to polish those dishes. I think other people allow this to happen because they think that the jewish people steel stuff which isn't true. That made me feel terrible and sad because that shouldn't happen and jewish people should be treated the same as everyone else

DeleteA form of persecution I saw in this book is Discrimination. I chose this because of how the Nazi soilders killed anyone they saw walking down the street and how they have snipers in the buildings to shoot anyone running across the road like how Yurek died when he got shot by a sniper. Many people were affected by this, the persecuters were the Nazi's. I tink that this was allowed was becuase Adolph Hitlor was in charge and the Nazi's were his men. If I could change something that happened back then it would be when Adolph Hitlor was voted to be in charge. I would change this so then WWII would have never happened and all of the Jewish people would have never been killed. I felt very sad because of what happened to the Jewish people and I was very angry that it was Adolph Hitlor did with the help of the Nazi soilers.
ReplyDeleteYou did a good job on this assignment. There are a couple of things that you should fix though. One is that you didn't spell the word think right on the end of the forth line of your post. Also, you put "If I could change something that happened back then it would be when Adolph Hitlor was voted to be in charge." I think that this was a typo because you wrote how you didn't think that Hitler was good to be in charge although then you wrote how if you could change something it would be to put Hitler in charge. Finally, fix your spelling of Nazis because you don't need an apostrophe. I thought that you did a great job overall and I like how you explained your thoughts.

DeleteI think you did a good job explaining that the story "Jacobs Rescue" is about persecution. I have a few edits you may want to make. The word persecution was spelled wrong. The title "Jacobs Rescue" both words should be capitilized. "Jewish" and "Hitler" both need to be capitilized and the word outside is one word not two.

This is because the Nazis soldiers that were under the control of Hitler were set to eliminate the Jewish race and everybody and anybody that got in their way. There was no reason why Hitler hated Jews but for some odd reason he did. If anybody in the world could have helped the Jews it would have been to react to what was happening faster. If the world just would have known faster maybe Hitler and the Nazis could have been stopped before it got so out of hand. It mad me sad for the Jewish people because hey all died for nothing, angry at Hitler and his army of soldiers, and disappointed of the Nazis that they could do this kind of a thing to their own kind. I hope nothing like this ever happens to anyone ever again.

DeleteI think you did a good job but I have some edits for you. To start you said a few and you listed two forms of persecution, you should have said a couple because you listed two. "It mad me sad"? I think you meant to say it made me sad and "Hey all died for nothing"? I think you meant to say "they" instead of "hey". I think that you did a good job.
In my opinion, the form of persecution was discrimination. I chose this because in one of the part where Yurek dies, that was a clear showing of discrimination because Yurek was only celebrating when he heard the Russians were coming through the radio. Right after he stepped outside, a German sniper killed him from the roof. The Yurek's death affected the whole family including Jacob. This was allowed because Hitler wanted to vanquish all the Jewish people and maybe told his men to kill anyone who stepped outside. I would change this part of the story so that the Nazi soldier misses the shot and that scares Yurek and sprints back inside. I was very angry at Hitler for wanting to kill all the Jewish people and was very sad for Yurek's family and Jacob for the Yurek's death.

Hateful people have been constantly coming up with new ways and reasons to treat people unfairly. Whether it’s merely saying mean things or putting them on death row it doesn’t matter, it’s not ok. One of these hateful people managed to get almost an entire country to blame one religion for their problems. This man way Adolf Hitler, he was against the Jewish people as you probably already know. Hitler managed to turn most of Germany against Jewish people by feeding them false information saying the Jews are the cause of their problems and ridding the world of them could make everything better. The Germans became brainwashed believing everything their “great and mighty” leader said was true. Jewish people were being wiped out, innocent Jewish people. I find it so hard to even begin to wrap my head around the Holocaust because I don’t understand why one person could have so much hate towards a religion that did nothing to him. How could he treat Jewish people like Jacob so cruelly? It hurts to think of all the people that died during Hitler's reign of terror, like poor Yurek. If I could go back in time and change the course of human history by making sure Hitler never ruled I would 100%. This evil man brought so much pain and suffering. I wish it never happened, I hate what he did, and I never want anything like it to happen again, ever.

This evil German man, Hitler,brain-washed almost all the Germans and persecuted Jews because of their religion. Hitler sent strong Jews to camps and killed rest of them. Well, some of the Jews were forced to move into ghettos, fenced area that seperated them from the Germans. Nazi soldiers killed Jews who were trying to get out of the ghettos.

This type of persecution was allowed to happen because, Hitler brain-washed Germans by telling them that Jews caused all the troubles. If I could change the past, I would go back in time and SAVE ALL THE JEWS!
A form of persecution in this book would be discrimination. The Jewish people of the world were affected in the way that they weren't allowed to move away from the Ghetto. They also had their freedom of speech taken away. If you went and stood up for yourself, you would die. The person who started this terror would be the Nazi Leader, Adolf Hitler. Though it was pretty horrible, most of the world didn't know about this until World War 2. The reason this was allowed in the world is because of the propaganda and lies that have been covering the truth. The people were brainwashed into believing the fake information that the Nazis was releasing. If I could have been there to do something to change it, I would go and try to tell the people to look past the lies. This would be difficult because I would be instantly thrown into prison. The most difficult thing is to even think about what he did to the people. The soldiers would go and kill entire families for being Jewish. This makes me feel both troubled and angry. It makes me feel troubled because of the fact that the Jewish people did nothing to upset the German people. It makes me feel angry because they would freely kill people. They would go and kill another living, breathing human. The Holocaust was something that the world doesn't want to remember but can't forget.

He made all the German soldiers attack the Jewish people for no reason. You might ask why didn't the rest of the countries help the Jewish people? Well, to tell you the truth, the other countries had no clue of what is happening in Germany. Only during the times of World War 2, they knew what was happening to the Jews and started to react. The Germans beat up so many Jews and most of all, they killed so many. In the novel, the soldiers even killed their own people if they were hiding a Jew. They were so ruthless and harsh on the Jews.

I would not make Hitler have power and make Jewish people as his personal slaves because of their beliefs. I wouldn't have made the Holocaust ever happen because it was very upsetting hearing over 11 million Jewish people got killed. Its sad that Hitler was lying and yet he brainwashed everyone to turn against the Jews. It makes me feel worried that this will happen again, and maybe differently yet..similar.

Discrimination should be capitalized because it is the first word, and for their beliefs you need to spell their "their" not "there" but good job.
DeleteIn this book I found there were many forms of persecution, for example Jewish people were being killed every day in camps. If anyone tried to help them they would be excited as well. Obviously this affected everyone especially the Jewish. The cause of this persecution was the Nazi soldiers and Adolf Hitler because Adolf Hitler believed that the human race would be perfect without Jewish people, the only reason this was allowed to happen is because Adolf Hitler came to power by scaring the people and turning jewish people into a common enemy, if I could change this story I would change it so Adolf Hitler dies or never comes to power because he killed millions of jewish people and others.

For one you have TONS of grammar errors which makes it hard to read and understand. Also you put some commas and periods in places where they did't need to go and didn't add commas where some needed to go. Overall good description although you should fix these small errors.

ReplyDeleteA form of persecution in my novel was there were a lot but when they were killing all the jews because there were just a different culture and that they send jews to camp for them to slave there also another form of persecution I saw in the book is when the nazi's kill the jews or make them work for them. Jacob was affected in this book because he was a jew and not much people were jews over there because if you are a jew you get killed so Jacob was affected because he would always have to hide when the nazi's would check peoples houses so he wouldent get found and killed and he is the main character in the book. The main person in the book that persecuted all the people were the nazi's and hitler because they would kill people and they were the bad guys because they did things that is horible that they shouldent be doing just because of someones culture and they would slave people. I think this kept on happening because know one wanted to stand up and put him in jail or something and every one knew that they cant win against Hitler so know one tryed wich means if you dont try you will never know if you can actially put him in jail. I fI could change something I would let it be a free life if someone was jew they would be the same as anyone else and I would put Hitler and the nazi's in jail. It made me feel horible,mad,sad,angry because people are getting killed just because of there culture and that jews are getting treated unfairly and that why cant jews just live a free life just like every person.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your explanation but you had quite a few mistakes. First, you sentences were really long so you should consider adding comma's. Second, you had quite a few capitalization errors such as ' Jew', ' Nazi ' and ' Hitler '. Third, you had spelling errors like wouldent should be spelled as wouldn't, horible is spelled as horrible and tryed is spelled as tried. Other than that you did a great job!

In the novel, “Jacobs Rescue” I found two types of persecution, discrimination, and slavery. According to Dictionary. com, discrimination means “treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination.” Hitler had one goal and that was to eliminate all the Jewish people in the world, because of their religion. Hitler brainwashed most of the people of Germany into thinking that Jewish people were bad. So many people thought it was okay, and supported Hitler or sat back and did nothing. Then Hitler made Nazis tear apart Jewish families by either killing them, or sending them away to concentration camps. In the concentration camps, the Jews slaved away until they dropped dead, or were sent into gas chambers. In my opinion, any type of discrimination, is wrong, and if I could change what happened, I would undo everything Hitler did. What Hitler did was vile and disgusting! Why would anyone do such a thing? Reading this Holocaust book made me really sad, and angry and frustrated at Hitler and some Germans.
